Re-issue of International Driving Permits (IDP)

As per Notification No. GSR 15(E) dated 07 January 2021 issued by Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India, Indian nationals living abroad may apply for re-issue of IDP through the portal www.parivahan.gov.in.  The Notification is Attached  for information.  On receipt of application through the portal, the licensing authority in India, on verification of the documents, shall issue the IDP and shall courier it directly to the address of the applicant.

The process for re-issuance of International Driving Permit (IDP) is as detailed below:

1.Applicant living within the consular jurisdiction of the Embassy of India, Sofia should visit the Embassy in person along with following documents for verification:

a.Copy of passport

b.Copy of expired IDP

c.Copy of valid domestic driving license; 

d.Print out of driving license details from the internet (state RTO website) OR a letter from the corresponding RTO in India 

e.Copies of residence permit

f.Fees of 25 BGN  + 5 BGN

2.Embassy will issue a receipt to the applicant

3.After obtaining the above-mentioned receipt/certification, applicant has to directly apply for re-issue of IDP on the portal www.parivahan.gov.in by uploading the requisite documents, including the receipt issued by the Embassy.   

On receipt of the application through the portal, the licensing authority in India, on verification of the documents, shall issue the IDP and shall courier it directly to the address of the applicant.
