How did H.E Mr. Rajesh Kumar Sachdeva make India closer to us?

H.E Mr. Rajesh Kumar Sachdeva, Ambassador of India to Bulgaria, will soon leave Bulgaria. On the occasion of his departure, he and his wife Mrs. Promila Sachdeva invited their fellow citizens, Bulgarians and friends of India at their residence in Sofia. Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, culture, education and business were among the guests. Also, prof. Alexander Fedotoff, director of the Center for Eastern Languages and Cultures at Sofia University (SU); the Indologists prof. Milena Bratoeva, assist. prof. Boryana Kamova from “Classic East” Department at SU; Dr. Mauna Kaushik, also teacher; prof. Alexander Shurbanov, who is the first Chairman of “Friends of India” Club; the journalist Daniela Kaneva- the current Chairman of the Club; Snezhana Todorova, Chairman of the Union of Bulgarian journalists; as well as another journalists and artists: Ekaterina Pavlova, editor- in chief of the website “Diplomatic Spectrum”, the singers Diana Dafova and Hristo Paskalev- Paskal attended the event.
While revising his mandate in brief, H.E. Mr. Rajesh Kumar Sachdeva reminded the guests the establishment of the Indo- Bulgarian Business Chamber in February 2016, as well as the numerous events, related to the Indian culture and art, the most significant of which are the celebration of the International Day of Yoga, 21st of June, the festival of India in Varna, October 2016, the participation of Indian movies at Menar Film Fest this January. The Ambassador once again expressed his joy because of the great interest Bulgarian audience has in such kind of events. He did not miss to congratulate the Bulgarians, trained in Indian Classical dances, who also took part in the official evening of India, during Menar festival.
My personal impressions are that during his mandate H.E. Mr. Rajesh Kumar Sachdeva tried to attend every event, related to his country.
I remember that during the “Night of Museums 2015”, when the performer of Indian Classical dances “Bharatanatyam” Nivedita Badve took part in the programme, he came specially to greet the audience. I met him at the inauguration of Lyuben Stoev’s exhibition “Cycle “India” in March 2016 in “Sredets Hall”; at the photo exhibition of Plamena Dimitrova- Racheva with photos from South India this February, etc.
An important part of his activity was the promotion of the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Programme (ITEC), that offers Bulgarian graduates opportunity to attend training programmes in Indian institutes every year. They also had the chance to share their experience during the annual reception, organized by the Ambassador in his Residence.
Those, who attended the farewell dinner, hosted by H.E Mr. Rajesh Kumar Sachdeva, found themselves in an increasingly attractive Indian atmosphere, and it was because of the warmth and simplicity in the way Ambassador and his wife spoke with the guests, that I felt how close to us India actually is.
